Program description - September 2026
Data and network breaches and digital crimes continue to grow in number and severity, resulting in the increasing need for qualified professionals to work on Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) teams. Digital forensics specialists investigate cybersecurity incidents by extracting, examining, analyzing, and reporting on evidence obtained from devices on the network to determine the attack vector used to compromise the organization.
This program will provide you with the practical skills that you need to excel as a digital forensics investigator or digital forensics analyst through extensive hands-on experience in forensics processes performed on many different types of devices using industry-standard tools and techniques. Learning computer forensics will help get you closer to understanding how to become a cybersecurity expert in the field.
DFIR teams are employed by large corporations, law enforcement agencies, financial institutions, cybersecurity service providers, government agencies, consulting organizations, and more. Becoming a member of a DFIR team is an excellent entry into the cybersecurity field, and students of this program will graduate with an Ontario College Graduate Certificate in Digital Forensics in Cybersecurity, gaining the skills and knowledge needed to get started. Completing this program is also a great way for those with some experience in the IT field to acquire education to move or expand into the cybersecurity space.
